SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL: 04-22-26 @ The Myth in Maplewood, MN

On Wednesday, April 22nd, Minnesota metalheads rushed in anticipation to The Myth in Maplewood to see an onslaught of deathcore. Slaughter to Prevail’s stop in Minnesota is their last stop on their North American Tour. The best part about catching the last show on a tour is that the band has had a month to perfect their show. Sometimes opening bands can be generic or boring, but that was not the case tonight! The night started with strong support from southern metalcore bands Attila and Whitechapel, who each brought their own energy and helped set the stage for an unforgettable headlining performance.

Slaughter to Prevail’s setlist weighed heavily with songs from the band’s last album, “Grizzly.” They opened with “Bonebreaker,” but then proceeded to play multiple tracks from their 2025 album, including “Banditos,” “Russian Grizzly in America,” and “Viking.” The latter was one of my favorites as it was during its breakdown that we all got to witness the mighty Aex Terrible scream without his microphone. I’m not sure if he’s a man, a beast, or possessed. Next, they played “Bratva” and “Baby Yaga,” and the crowd loved every second of it. The stage was set with risers high above the fans, and two large grizzly bear heads with glowing eyes adorned the backdrop’s corners.

Alex shared how thankful he was for the opportunity to travel and perform for their fans. He also knows how to work a crowd- from getting everyone to crouch down and then jump up to the riffs, to orchestrating utter chaos in the circle pits, Alex isn’t just a performer. He’s a frontman through and through. “Koschei” had endless crowd surfers, Evgeny Novikov impressed everyone with his amazing drum solo, and both “Conflict” and “Kid of Darkness” had everyone going crazy. They closed their set with an impressive performance of “Behelit.”

The eleven-song setlist wasn’t enough to satisfy the crowd, so the band emerged to play “Demolisher.” Both Slaughter to Prevail and the crowd gave it their all. The room smelled of sweat and beer, but was filled with the smiles of happy fans. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, Slaughter to Prevail leaves a lasting impression and great memories. Don’t miss their next tour!
