Stream PORNOHELMUT’s Bang Lord HERE. Texas audiovisual insurgent PORNOHELMUT – aka percussionist/creator Neil Barrett – will deploy his pummeling Bang Lord debut tomorrow through Atypeek Music and his own Show & Tell Media. On the eve of its official unveiling, New Noise Magazine has fearlessly stepped forward to host an advance stream of the bizarre album’s damaging tones. Bang Lord marks PORNOHELMUT‘s first studio full-length; a multifaceted crystallization of industrial noise, punk rock, metal, experimental electronics, and violently enigmatic percussion that tests the boundaries and proclivities of underground music at large. The album was engineered by creator Neil Barrett at Hell’s Kitchen, mastered by James Plotkin, and features artwork by Josh Paul. Barrett offers, “Over a year ago I sat down to try and create some demo tracks to book a few shows in Europe. This thing quickly fought to become an all-consuming monster of a first record. And I let it. I allowed it to be whatever it was going to be and go wherever it wanted. It turned a bit feral. It grew a lot of crooked limbs, some pretty sharp teeth. It’s a little scattered and unfocused; it crosses a lot of conventional boundaries, defies simple genre categorization, and generally seeks to perplex and entice or otherwise offend the listener. I hope you enjoy it. I hope you hate it. I hope it makes you feel something.” Stream PORNOHELMUT’s Bang Lord at New Noise RIGHT HERE. Bang Lord will see release this Friday, February 14th on all digital outlets via French avant label Atypeek Music, and on limited gold audio cassette via PORNOHELMÜT‘s new Show & Tell Media imprint. Find preorders for the cassette HERE and the digital HERE, and see the previously released “Astroglide” video HERE. The extreme, experimental unit PORNOHELMUT is the work of one Neil Barrett, formerly of BLK OPS, The Dead See, and others, and responsible for video work with Today Is The Day, Primitive Man, Cave Bastard, and others. With this outfit, Barrett fires point-blank on all cylinders blasting a debilitating alloy of explosive drums/percussion, synths, vocals, and more at the listener. In a live setting, the visuals take on a commanding aspect of the performance, controlled rhythmically by the drumming and shifting haphazardly between gnarled found footage, spastic animations and originally filmed content, often with segues of glitched out video mixing and eerie, garbled audio samples. Barrett’s newly founded imprint Show & Tell that will feature various PORNOHELMÜT releases as well as highlighting other audiovisual performers, experimental film, unique solo acts, and other outsider musicians and artists. The initial release of Bang Lord will take shape as a, with other related audiovisual formats forthcoming. In addition to the impending Bang Lord album, PORNOHELMUT is booking new tour dates, is fully immersed in the creation of a fully audiovisual album with Gridfailure, and more.
