Under the glorious sunshine of the hottest day of the year so far, crowd surfers, mosh pits and sing-alongs abounded as the two outdoor stages played host to a 16 band bill hand selected by festival creators Dance Gavin Dance. Speaking on the phenomenal success of the event, Dance Gavin Dance say:
“Not even in our wildest dreams did we expect a total sell-out for the festival’s first year. We decided to go it alone and create our own event to showcase the world of incredible music being made that isn’t being acknowledged elsewhere. We wanted to put a line-up together that included some really popular, established bands as well as some truly incredible underground bands that fans may not be aware of yet. The fact that the event sold out and pretty much everyone that came was here for the first band is testament to how much appetite there is for awesome music and whilst there may not be huge industry attention, the scene is very much alive and kicking!
We want to thank our team for helping us make this dream a reality, the City National Grove Of Anaheim for having us, the security staff for doing an amazing job of keeping people safe and most importantly, the fans for coming and making the first ever Swanfest a HUGE success. We look forward to doing it again next year.”
