Melbourne rockers Slowly Slowly have shared the new single “Forget You.” With the video here.

The track brings an unforgettably upbeat moment in time, as the group fuses pop-ready melodics with sharp introspection.

“Forget You” is a speedy follow up to the band’s recent stripped-back, alternate version of the track “Nothing On.” The song brings back the bounce alongside nimble hooks, bright tones, and percolating beats. An instant indie rock tour de force with plenty of endearing pop sensibilities, “Forget You” blossoms from the foundations laid by the band’s most recent tracks, exerting the addictive charm of the original “Nothing On,” and the reflective jaunt of “Blueprint,” while injecting a fresh new sonic sheen and tackling personal reinvention.

Expertly weaving some pensive subject matter with the irresistible surrounding instrumentals, Slowly Slowly ooze with agility and maturity on “Forget You,” with vocalist Ben Stewart‘s candied eloquence shrewdly balancing light and shade.

He elaborates, “This song feels obvious in its intention, but what you may not assume is that it is actually aimed completely inwards. It’s about forgetting past versions of myself, not someone else. As we all often are, I am constantly navigating my tornado of neurosis. This song touches on the notion of ‘Okay, starting again frommmmmmmm… now,’ and how we convince ourselves it’s a new day. But when you zoom out, it’s the same cycle every time. I retain hope, but often, unfortunately, am quick to write all attempts off as futile.”

ABOUT SLOWLY SLOWLY:
There’s an unshakable sense of comfort and resonance that comes with listening to Slowly Slowly. Frontman Ben Stewart’s vivid lyricism and emotionally-charged vocals douse swirling guitars and soaring percussion, and prove the band as nothing short of striking storytellers. At any moment fragile and raw to boisterous and belting the next, the four-piece — completed by Alex Quayle (bass), Albert Doan (guitar), and Patrick Murphy (drums) — effortlessly captures real life and turns it into a rock song.

In early 2020 and 2021, respectively, Slowly Slowly released the the two adjoining parts of their double-album effort Race Car Blues and Race Car Blues — Chapter 2 to a tidal wave of success. Beyond gracing magazine covers and claiming Feature Album slots from triple j, Tone Deaf and The Music, the band enjoyed a rinsing on national radio and kicked off a string of sold-out Australian shows. On the back of their most successful single to date, “Blueprint” was released in May 2021. With mounting critical and fan rapture ensuing, Slowly Slowly continue to stake their claim as one of Australia’s most vital rock outputs of late.
