Sharon Osbourne is Working on Bringing Back Ozzfest

We lost Ozzy last year on July 22nd, 2025 but his legacy will live on not only through music and video but also in the concert tour that bears his namesake – Ozzfest.

Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager was the business mind behind the legendary heavy metal singer. She recently did an interview with Billboard Magazine and discussed her role in the wildly successful career of Ozzy Osbourne.

“All of the creative direction for visuals at Ozzfest was mine. I can’t sing a note — I’m tone-deaf — but I can be creative, and I like to create things,”

Of course Sharon was also responsible for the planning and execution of “Back to the Beginning”. Which was Ozzy’s big send-off and also now regarded as the “Highest Grossing Charity Concert of All Time”.

But Sharon broke news in her most recent Billboard interview by what she revealed about the future of Ozzfest. She had this to say:

“I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently. It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”

I can’t really think of any other metal festivals before Ozzfest. Lollapalooza might be the only mainstream, touring rock festival I can think of that pre-date’s the Ozzfest at all. Whatever the case look forward to a potential revived Ozzfest with a lot of great up and coming metal bands.

Sharon will remain a force in the world of heavy metal despite the passing of her husband. She played a major role in his success and will likely lend that experience to other up and coming artists in his absense.
