Mac Sabbath : April 18, 2025 @ Ferris Wheelers in Dallas, TX

It’s hard to believe that ten years have passed since Mac Sabbath landed from parts unknown but indeed, it’s true. To mark this momentous occasion for the kings and creators of Drive Thru Metal, the band has embarked on their 10 Year Anniversary Tour.

The tour sees main support from Huntington Beach punk rockers Guttermouth and Tennessee’s experimental rock outfit Flummox. The 18-city tour hits large and small markets in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Michigan and wraps up May 10 in Chicago.

Ferris Wheelers in Dallas had the pleasure of christening the opening night of the tour. There were no bottles being busted, just hefty servings of tasty Texas BBQ and ice cold adult beverages. Unfortunately, there were no metal milkshakes available even though a Texas sized straw was present.

The latter half of Mac Sabbath’s career has seen the band expand its repertoire of material. Of course, the standards such as “Organic Funeral,” “Chicken of the Slaves,” “Sweet Beef,” and “Frying Pan” were present. That’s not all of the foundational songs for Mac Sabbath, some were left out.

Those vacancies were filled with pinches and twists of lyrical content. New to the ears of some fans that follow Ronald Osbourne and company were “Slob Drools,” “The Grouper,” “Wok,” “Gravy Train.”

Even Peter Criss Cut Fries performed his rendition of “Bread.”

With a little thinking, it’s not hard to determine the originating sources for these Mac Sabbath dishes.

Mac Sabbath always delivers whether it’s services for walk-up, dine-in or the preferred method, the drive-thru metal lanes. It’s a family friendly outing and that was evident with teens along with music loving cool parents leading the way.

Customer service in the Mac Sabbath camp is always top-notch. A visit to the merchandise booth where the dedicated Employee of the Month will assist with any merchandise order and a smile.

Adding that one extra ingredient that makes a difference was the vibe of Ferris Wheelers BBQ’s outdoor seating. Of course, there was standing room against the metal barrier separating the stage from fans, large picnic tables, hanging outdoor lighting, a flashing arrow marquee directing patrons to the live music area.

These things added to the Mac Sabbath atmosphere but it was the illuminated ferris wheel that overlooked the outdoor area.

If there was a venue for Mac Sabbath to kickoff their 10th Anniversary Tour, Ferris Wheelers is it. If only Ronald Osbourne could perform a song while riding the ferris wheel would have topped the night off in true Mac Sabbath fashion.

The seed is planted. Whether or not the idea blossoms upon Mac Sabbath’s return in the future is unknown.

Until then, one can only hope.
