June 7, 2022, LOS ANGELES – Legendary Celtic punk band, Flogging Molly return with their first new album in five years, Anthem (Sept. 9, Rise Records), a collection that finds the raucous Los Angeles-by-way-of-Dublin outfit reunited with Swagger and Drunken Lullabies engineer Steve Albini. “With this record we went back to the basics in a way that I don’t think we could have done if we hadn’t been playing together for over 20 years,” says singer/guitar player Dave King. “I think going back to Chicago and doing this record with Steve made the experience so fun and I really believe you can hear that on the record. For Flogging Molly, getting together and playing new songs is always the goal—and now we’re just getting excited to start playing these songs live and giving our fans a whole new era of Flogging Molly.” A second preview of the 11-song collection arrives today, with the release of “The Croppy Boy ’98,” a track that King describes as “a foot stomping, rollicking ode to traditional Irish music.” The song’s arrival is accompanied by a live video (https://youtu.be/j3WBSfXOHQo) featuring footage from Flogging Molly’s recent St. Patrick’s Day performance and annual festival at the Hollywood Palladium. The band released the irreverent “These Times Have Got Me Drinking/Tripping Up The Stairs” (https://riserecords.lnk.to/ Flogging Molly and The Interrupters kick off their U.S. co-headlining trek tonight in Indianapolis, with the bands joined by openers Tiger Army and The Skints. About Flogging Molly: Flogging Molly is Dave King (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bodhran), Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle, vocals), Dennis Casey (guitar, vocals), Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina, vocals), Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, vocals), Spencer Swain (mandolin, banjo, guitar, vocals), and Mike Alonso (drums, percussion). Starting out as the house band for Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles and building a loyal following through endless touring, Flogging Molly has become a staple in the punk scene over the past 20-plus years, kicking off with its riotous debut, Swagger, and continuing through their five additional studio albums. With numerous late-night television appearances under their belt, a sold out Salty Dog Cruise through the Caribbean, and a yearly St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Los Angeles, the band releases their seventh full-length album, Anthem, on Sept. 9 via Rise Records. # # # | ||
