Seeing Daughtry live at Treasure Island Casino in Minnesota was unforgettable, especially since it was my first time catching them in concert. It seems like every time they came to Minnesota I was either out of town or working. The band started promptly at 9:00 and the energy in the room was incredible right from the moment they opened with “The Reckoning.”
The setlist had a great mix of new songs like “Changes Are Coming” and “World on Fire” along with fan favorites like “It’s Not Over” and “Over You.” One of my favorite moments was after the second chorus of “Crash,” the band broke into a verse of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.” Also, the band absolutely nailed their cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” and the crowd was totally into it. You could feel the excitement in the air as everyone sang along.
Chris Daughtry also brought some beautiful acoustic moments with “Home” and “September.” The band had left the stage and just those stripped-down performances with Chris let his voice shine in a way that felt really personal. He shared pieces of himself with the audience as he talked a bit about the meaning behind some of the songs, which added a deeper connection.
The whole band was on fire, too. You could tell they were having a blast playing together, and that energy spilled over into the crowd. They ended the night with an amazing encore featuring “The Dam,” “Heavy Is the Crown,” and “Artificial.” The lights and sound during the finale were incredible, taking the energy up even higher. I didn’t want the night to end.
I’ve read great reviews about Daughtry’s live performances before, and now I know why. Chris’s voice is just as powerful live as it is on their albums, and the band’s performance was tight and polished from start to finish. If you’ve never seen Daughtry live, you’re seriously missing out. Their music hits you in all the right ways, and the show left me wanting more. This definitely won’t be my last Daughtry concert!
