TO CELEBRATE THE RELEASE OF THE HOMETOWN BAND’S NEW ALBUM, “NOWHERE GENERATION” NEW ALBUM EVENT INCLUDES IN-STORE APPEARANCE AND SIGNING AT CHICAGO’S RECKLESS RECORDS, AND NATIONWIDE iHEARTRADIO SPECIAL NEW SINGLE AND LIVE MUSIC VIDEO, “TALKING TO OURSELVES,” RELEASED TODAY |
LOS ANGELES, CA – Tuesday, June 1, 2021 – This Friday is going to be a day the multi-Gold and Platinum punk rock band RISE AGAINST will never forget. With their current single, “Nowhere Generation,” approaching Top 5 at Rock Radio and debuting Top 15 at Alternative Radio, Rise Against will see Nowhere Generation, its ninth studio album, and first for Loma Vista Recordings, released. In recognition of the album’s release, and Rise Against’s decades-long social justice and political activism that has long informed their music, Mayor Lori Lightfoot has proclaimed June 4 “Rise Against Day in Chicago,” the city where the band originally formed in 1999, and where two of the band members still call home. Also on Friday, beginning at 5 PM CT, Rise Against will commandeer Chicago’s Reckless Records (the Wicker Park store at 1379 N. Milwaukee Ave.) for a special in-store appearance – the store’s first in more than a year. The 50 fifty lucky fans who purchase a copy of Nowhere Generation will have the opportunity to see a special Tim McIlrath solo acoustic set at the store. After the performance, the entire band will sign copies of the new album for everyone in attendance. Today, Rise Against introduces “Talking to Ourselves,” a brand new song from Nowhere Generation. With its surprising pop candor, “Talking To Ourselves” is a stand-out song about wanting to be heard and wondering if anyone is listening. You can stream the song HERE; the track’s live music video can be seen HERE, as a preview of the iHeartRadio Album Release Party with Rise Against, in celebration of Nowhere Generation. The event will stream this Thursday, June 3 at 8 PM (local) on iHeartRadio’s YouTube, and broadcast across iHeartMedia’s Rock and select Alternative radio stations. Over the years, many journalists have identified Rise Against as “controversial” or “radical,” their music being “bold” and “brave.” But the band’s lyricist, Tim McIlrath begs to differ, and “Talking to Ourselves” is a prime example of that point of view. “I’ve never thought of our songs as ‘brave’ or ‘bold,’ said McIlrath, “I think of them as just common sense. When you feel that no one is listening to you, you tend to talk louder, and when you feel no one notices you, you start doing things to get their attention. That’s what this song is about.” On Friday, July 30, Rise Against – vocalist/rhythm guitarist McIlrath, bassist Joe Principe, drummer Brandon Barnes, and guitarist Zach Blair – will launch the “Nowhere Generation Tour” in New York, taking place primarily in open-air amphitheaters under spacious summer skies. The band is known for its explosive live shows and its outspoken, socially-conscious lyrics that speak to the realities of our times: the environment, economic injustice, forced displacement, political corruption, voter registration, animal rights, and interpersonal relationships, all delivered with big, chunky riffs and melodic post-grunge hooks. Rise Against has amassed five top 10 albums on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, and six top ten singles on its Hot 100 chart. The band’s Gold-certified single “Savior” alone, has accumulated nearly half-a-billion streams. |
