Halloween was almost upon Leatherheads in Draper Utah, by October 29th and Burning Witches lit up the stage, delivering an epic performance for their fans. The Swiss heavy metal band, known for their electrifying energy and a fierce all-female lineup, brought an intensity to the stage that matched the Halloween spirit and decor.
From the opening notes, it was clear that Burning Witches were not going to hold back. Vocalist Laura Guldemond commanded the stage with her powerful voice, her soaring highs and guttural lows setting the tone for the night. With a mix of thrash, power metal, and a touch of classic heavy metal, their sound was both nostalgic and refreshingly raw. Guldemond’s presence was magnetic, engaging the crowd with each lyric, and she didn’t hesitate to lean into the theatrical, whipping her hair and gesturing dramatically to the audience’s delight.
The setlist spanned fan favorites from albums like Hexenhammer and The Witch of the North, along with tracks from their latest album The Dark Tower. Each song showcased the band’s impressive musicianship, especially Romana Kalkuhl’s blistering guitar solos and Lala Frischknecht’s relentless drumming. While Jeanine Grob kept the other half of the rhythm section moving, Courtney Cox shredded on Guitar. The crowd fed off Burning Witches energy, with head banging and fists pumping throughout the set.
One of the highlights of the evening was their performance of “Dance with the Devil.” The crowd sang along, and the synergy between the band and fans was palpable. With the Halloween decorations and Burning Witches’ own gothic, witchy vibe, the night felt like a true celebration of metal. Draper couldn’t have asked for a better pre-Halloween treat—Burning Witches left everyone energized, and a little spellbound.
