FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE REVEAL DRUM PLAYTHROUGH FOR COVER OF EIFFEL 65’S “BLUE (DA BA DEE)”
Following the unexpected, sinister cover of EIFFEL 65’s 1998 hit single “Blue (Da Ba Dee),” celebrated orchestral death metal masters FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE have released a playthrough video for their version of the track, “Blue (Turns To Red),” featuring their monstrous drummer Eugene Ryabchenko.
Commenting on the playthrough, Ryabchenko states: “Not gonna lie I never thought a pop hit could be this challenging on drums. With Fleshgod’s signature sound the arrangements took a completely different form. I am pretty sure one way or another it “blue” some people’s minds.”
Frontman Francesco Paoli adds:
“We did this cover as a joke, but tracking it wasn’t that funny . Seeing is believing!”
FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s new cover “Blue (Turns To Red)” and recently released single “No” (watch the video here) follows the band’s monumental, critically acclaimed album “Veleno,”which is available for purchase and stream from Nuclear Blast.
Italian for ‘venom’, “Veleno”marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record King (2016). The ‘metal part’ of “Veleno”was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the ‘orchestral part’ – the ensembles – were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIAMURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of “Veleno”took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).
