Mark Tremonti’s new album, The End Will Show Us How, is another reminder of why he’s a standout in modern rock. Known for his work with Creed and Alter Bridge, Tremonti has built a strong reputation as a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, and this album shows all sides of his talent.
The album kicks off with “The Mother, The Earth and I,” a track that sets the tone with a slow, atmospheric build before exploding into something powerful and emotional. It’s a strong opener that pulls you right in. It’s one of my favorite songs from his extensive discography. The second track, “One More Time,” follows with a relentless riff and driving energy, keeping the momentum going. These tracks lay the foundation for an album full of highs, blending heavy rock with reflective moments.
One of the things Tremonti does well is balancing the intense and the personal. On “It’s Not Over,” he strips things back with a ballad highlighting his voice and the emotion he brings to his music. But just when you think the album is slowing down, tracks like “I’ll Take My Chances” crank things back up with fiery guitars and a head-banging energy. There’s a diverse tracklisting. “The Bottom” uses a tempo and riffs uncommon to the genre, “Nails” keeps it heavy and gives off that classic Tremonti sound, and “All the Wicked Things,” with it’s eerie intro and knockout solo is a killer way to end the album. Definitely one of my favorite tracks.
The production, handled by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, deserves a mention. The album sounds crisp and clear but still has plenty of grit. Baskette manages to capture both the raw power of Tremonti’s guitar work and the emotion in his vocals. It’s a polished sound, but not so clean that it loses its edge. Lyrically, the album dives into themes of resilience, self-reflection, and pushing through challenges. While some tracks seem to lean into heavier subjects lyrically, the music always feels uplifting in its own way.
With 12 tracks, The End Will Show Us How has plenty to appreciate. Tremonti continues to grow as an artist, and this album is a solid addition to his already impressive catalog. Long-time fans will love it, and it’s an excellent introduction for anyone new to his music.
