Malacoda Release Cover of Lizzy Borden’s, “Me Against The World”

Dark Symphonic Metal band Malacoda will release The Year Walk on December 3rd, 2021. Ahead of the release the band has released a cover of Lizzy Borden’s “Me Against The World.” The song originally appeared on a B-Horror movie called Black Roses.

The artwork pays homage to the original film’s movie poster and features legendary drummer
Carmine Appice as the drummer of the titular band in the film. Shane Provstgaard from Sonic
Prophecy provides guest vocals on the release.

When asked about the song Lucas Di Mascio of Malacoda“My first time hearing Lizzy Borden was in a really cheesy B-Horror movie called Black Roses. It was made in the 80’s, was filmed in Dundas, Ontario- which is where our bassist is from, and it’ got an awesome hair metal soundtrack. The first song you hear is Me Against The World by
Lizzy Borden and it’s just so fitting. We obviously had to make it darker, more cinematic so it’s a
very different version of the song- but still just as hard hitting.”

The song also feature vocalist Shane Provstgaard from Sonic Prophecy. Asked about the collaboration Di Mascio had this to say:
“We’ve wanted to work with Shane for a long time. We had little projects start to get some action
but never culminate in anything, so when it came time to do this I instantly asked Shane if he
wanted to do it. He did a killer job and brought back a bit of that 80’s metal edge into the song.”
