John LaMacchia – best known as the guitarist for Brooklyn hardcore/prog-metal group Candiria – is putting forth his first-ever solo project, announced today alongside the first single. Simply called LaMacchia, the new works are unlike anything the multi-instrumentalist has done to date and show a new breadth to his talent.

The moody, experimental indie rock vibe, layered sonic nuances and male-female vocal interplay present a dimensional new palette that is comparable to Massive Attack, Doves and Radiohead. The first single “Bled Out” is released today (with a music video forthcoming), and features a deep dive through crunchy guitars and free-falling bass, entwined with the candy-sweet vocals blend of LaMacchia and Sabrina Ellie.

To mark the occasion, LaMacchia is inviting an at-home global audience to get a first taste of the music through an exclusive livestream of his debut show, March 3 at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere-Zero One venue. Tune in at 8:30 pm ET via Instagram (@lamacchiamusic and @aqualambrecords) to hear the full set. Those in New York City interested in coming to the show (also featuring Spotlights and Shiner) can find more information and tickets here: https://dice.fm/event/5v6gw-shiner-spotlights-lamacchia-3rd-mar-elsewhere-zone-one-new-york-tickets

The full rundown of LaMacchia’s debut full-length album (slated for this spring via Aqualamb Records) will be coming later this month. Composed and recorded over the course of 2020 and 2021, the album plays like a lullaby for the apocalypse. With healthy doses of self-respect and emotional bravery that serve as a salve for our pandemic-weary heart, it allows listeners to escape a world that is falling apart with music and creativity.

In the meantime, stay tuned to socials for the latest information.

About LaMacchia
LaMacchia is the new project led by musician and artist John LaMacchia of Brooklyn prog-metal’s legendary Candiria. The result is what we wish post-aughts music would have sounded like; layered with new-wave moodiness, and akin to Autolux, Massive Attack, Doves and Liars, to name a few. And with the musicians he sought out to fulfill that burden, including Kellii Scott on drums (Failure), Michael MacIvor on bass (Candiria), Mario Quintero (Spotlights) and vocalists Sabrina Ellie, Candice Freshko and Andrea Horne (Vaureen).
