The song is about the importance of realizing that as an individual you will go through emotions for reasons outside of your relationship. Your partner doesn’t need to feel responsible for every mood you’re in if they didn’t cause it. Everybody has different ways they handle issues that come their way. One of those ways is to step away from the situation (or literally everything), to be alone, breathe, and take time to think about it yourself instead of unleashing misdirected anger at your loved one or anyone else. “
