Prior to this single, and the creation of the EP, Johnny’s music was primarily promoted in Mexico, so this release, along with “Soho”, promises to create a strong splash in the American market, and serve as his U.S./American music debut. The EP in total will include five standout tracks that promise to knock your boots off. The music video for “Howlin’ and Dying” is set to be released in July, and the full EP will be released in its entirety tentatively in September.

“Howlin’ and Dying” tunes into both a variety of classic influences & Johnny’s experimental side. Lyrics like “I’m howlin’ and dying, you got me on my knees, I’m howlin’ and dying, you wanna make me bleed,” demonstrate Johnny’s innate ability to convey powerful human emotion, while slamming guitar and unique powerhouse vocals showcase his influences all the way from Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age, Jimi Hendrix, and more.

At its core, Howlin’ and Dying is about a woman. Digging deeper, that woman is the classic femme fatale —charming, but absolutely evil. If you want to get to know her, you know there’s no easy way you’ll come out of it clean. Even though you know there will be consequences, you find her still harder and harder to resist.

With Johnny on vocals, guitar, bass, percussion and in charge of the production for both this song and the EP as a whole, he teamed up with Grammy winner Mark Rains (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tanya Tucker, Marilyn Manson) on engineering and recording the release, as well as Alain Johannes on mixing (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Chris Cornell, Arctic Monkeys), and Jeremy Lubsey handling mastering in Vlado Meller’s studio.

Described by the press and fans as “proof that rock and roll isn’t dead”, Johnny Nasty Boots curates high-powered, energetic, and punchy, heavy jams in his live shows making each set a unique, captivating experience.
