The new studio album from the heavy-hitting quintet, ‘Despite The Rise of the Sun’, will see an October 20th release via Black Lion Records.

“‘Gates’ is one of our more intense tracks, written during the covid lockdown. Instrumentally, it provided a cathartic release for our pent-up energy & emotions. Lyrically, it summarizes a few things that Aaron has experienced while being a part of the local metal scene. The song can be interpreted to admonish ‘gatekeeping’, which has always been a problem within the scene.

For the music video, we wanted to show people that, as we hail from the melting pot that is New York City, these ‘Gates’ have no place in the SV camp, as we welcome all with open arms!”

‘Despite The Rise Of The Sun’, the second full-length release from progressive melodic death metal quintet SOLEMN VISION, is tangible proof of hard work coming to fruition. Pre-lockdown, the band had already been working on songs that would become the bulk of the album. As the lockdown settled in, they kept working away, fueled by not only the frustrations and difficulties brought on by the pandemic, but by their increasingly impatient fans who wanted new music more than ever. As the world re-opened, SOLEMN VISION embarked on a 3-week tour of the Northeast and entered into an exciting new partnership with Black Lion Records setting them well on the path of bringing their vision to life.

Ranging from punishingly fast to soft and dark, ‘Despite The Rise Of The Sun’ maintains a rhythmic stasis throughout that becomes the album’s message: when faced with the ups and downs of challenge and adversity, finding a sense of balance is vital.

SOLEMN VISION was founded in the depths of Brooklyn, NYC as the rebranded version of its founders’ first concept, Spectral Voices. They kicked off strong in 2019 with the critically-acclaimed grassroots release of their debut self-titled record and quickly found themselves playing around New England, Montreal, and much of the mid-Atlantic metal circuit.
